Welcome to the GVSA - Golden Valley School Association.

The GVSA is a group of mums and dads - volunteer parents - who run the fund-raising activities for the school. More often than not, this also means the social events too.

At committee meetings we decide what events we will run, who will organise them, and how we will spend the money that has been raised.

The GVSA aims to provide the ‘extras’ that the school is unable to finance from the normal budgets. We receive requests from the governors, staff and pupils, which we will always try to fulfil.

Over the last few years, we have donated items such as scooters, bikes and helmets for Reception, African drums and chime bars for music lessons, netball posts and mats for PE lessons, books and storage for library books, and indeed books, a gift for every child at their Christmas parties, picnic tables for the playground, games and toys for classrooms and playgrounds.

When the new building was added in 2005, we presented the school with a cheque for an amazing £18,000. This donation enabled the six new classrooms to be equipped with new furniture – tables, chairs and cupboards.

We are now raising funds to provide new furniture for the eight classrooms in the older part of the building (which houses Reception and Years 1-3). We have already set aside money for four of these classrooms, so we’re on the way!

The GVSA always needs new faces and new ideas!

If you would like to help with fund-raising activities, in any way at all, then please consider coming along to one of our committee meetings. There will be no pressure to get involved, but you may like to find out more about what we’re doing.

We do appreciate that everyone’s time is precious. We are always pleased that people do what they can, when they can. This is an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. You can also have the satisfaction of knowing that you are directly benefiting your child’s learning environment.
