Day 1

Despite a minor delay, children and staff arrived at Deanfield and got straight in to a day of adventure and fun. After supper, full advantage was taken of the beautiful surroundings, with a nighttime walk in the woods.

We are up and ready for another great day after a fab night's sleep. Check out some of our photos below.  

Day 2 

Mr Hamilton had the privilege of spending the day at Deanfield on Day 2. The children were fantastic, with many pushing themselves to overcome some very challenging activities. We are incredibly proud of their efforts.

Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to upload photos due to a lack of Wi-Fi at Deanfield. The provider is working to resolve the issue and, as soon as this is sorted, we will add the photos to the website.

Day 3 

I (Mr Riordan) had a great Wednesday on camp. Despite the weather warnings, the sky was blue and the sun shone over our intrepid adventurers. I wandered the sight in the morning watching the children supporting each other as they attempted many new challenges. Climbing high ropes, lighting fires, tunnelling amongst the many things they were up to. 

As I drove home after supper I was left struck by 3 things: 

How vital these outdoor learning and residential experiences are for the children as they prepare to move to secondary school.

How well our children reflected our core values of Kindness, Challenge and Excellence and how much fun they were having. We are making memories and preparing children for their futures, not chasing SATs league tables!

What an amazing team of adults we have at Golden Valley, who care passionately about your children and who go above and beyond without a second thought. 

 

Mr Hamilton heads to camp on Thursday and will do all he can to get you some photos uploaded. 

Day 4

 

Despite the very wet weather today, it certainly hasn’t dampened the spirits of our superstars in the Forest of Dean although it may have slightly dampened everything and everyone else! Both children and adults have shown fantastic perseverance, taking part in and completing all of the activities on offer (some more gracefully than others!).

From mountain biking and axe throwing to den building and more, it has been a full and action-packed day fuelled by pancakes, pizzas, and sausages (a diet we’re fairly sure will catch on back at school!).

The children have had a fantastic week and are really looking forward to seeing their families tomorrow. In the meantime, there’s still the small matter of an air hockey tournament to be won, tensions are high, skills are questionable, and glory awaits…

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, hopefully slightly drier than we are now!
