Due to the sudden lockdown announced by the Prime Minister at 8pm tonight, and following discussion with the Chair of Governors and Senior Leadership Team, Golden Valley will be having an emergency INSET day tomorrow (Tuesday) to prepare for home learning and vital key worker/vulnerable child provision. The school will therefore be closed to all pupils for us to put all the necessary arrangements in place. We can only apologise for the short notice you have been given about this, but school leaders had no prior warning about the sudden U-turn regarding school closure.
You will be receiving a further Parentmail message during tomorrow morning regarding whether your child will require a key worker/vulnerable child place from Wednesday 6th January. We would be grateful if you could complete your registration form as soon as possible so that we can prepare class lists. This will be required from all parents even if you have already registered your key worker status previously, as the criteria for key worker/vulnerable pupil status changed on 30/12/2020.
We realise that this unexpected lockdown is not what we had hoped for and, again, apologise for the inconvenience caused by an emergency INSET day. We would never wish to make such a last minute decision, but having worked all day to prepare for all pupils returning to school tomorrow, we have been forced to change our plans and prepare for remote learning.
Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support,
Kevin Lynch Jane Turner
Headteacher Chair of Governors
