T3 Return to School

Return to school arrangements

Dear Parents/Carers

We would like to wish you a Happy New Year and hope that you are all safe and well, having managed to enjoy a somewhat different kind of Christmas break.

You will have no doubt been watching news updates and wondering what will happen to Primary Schools at the start of Term 3.

The Government and the Department for Education have made it clear that their intention is that children from YR to Y6 should return to school as normal. They believe that schools are safe.

We have received no separate advice or guidance from North Somerset Council. As a result, our  plans for Term 3 cannot change.

Staff will be involved in the planned INSET training on Monday 4th January and all children will be expected  to attend school as normal on Tuesday 5th January.

We appreciate that many of you will be concerned about the new strain of the virus, and the increased risk to children, their families, school staff and the local community. Therefore, we would ask that you continue to wear a mask on school grounds and as an additional measure, we request that you avoid congregating in small groups on or around the premises.

Similarly, please do not put staff in a vulnerable position with a face-to-face conversation. Communication must be via Class Dojo / Tapestry message until further notice. Please be aware that staff may not have seen your message if it is sent in the morning; if it is  very urgent please contact the school office by email.

When you bring your child to school, remind them to line up with their class as soon as they reach the playground. Please leave the school grounds as soon as possible. Please arrive from 8:45am and 8:55am. Staff will be in situ to maintain safety. Class teachers will take the children into class at 8:50am and 9:00am. If your child feels less confident in the mornings, aim to arrive at that time so that they can see their teacher and go into class straight away.

As you would expect, we constantly review our Risk Assessments and are adding additional precautions within the school setting as appropriate.

If your child is unwell for any reason, please keep them at home and contact the school office to advise that they are not well.  You can leave a message on the absence line at any time, so there is no need to wait until the office is open at 8.30am.

Thank you for your continued support.

Please take good care of yourselves, your families and our community.
