Copestake Sports Nominations 2022

A former Chair of Governors of Golden Valley, Eileen Copestake, presented a cup to school when she retired in 1993 to be given to a pupil in Year 6 at the end of the year for their personal development within sport.

Now every year, Classteachers nominate a boy and a girl from their class who have excelled in sport over the year, made significant improvements in their personal skill/confidence or have been amazing team players and role models.

This year's nominees were:

Year R: Matthew, Addie, Maggie and Reuben

Year 1: Thea-Rose, Sam, Rosie and Jacob

Year 2: Ted, Molly, Evan and Maya

Year 3: Zachary, Alana, Oliver and Charlotte

Year 4: William, Freija, Barney and Aurelia

Year 5: Nathaniel, Camille, Katie and Henry

Year 6: Ruby, Will, Ella and Sam

Two of the nominees in Year 6 will have their names engraved on the Copestake Trophy for winning this year - all will be revealed at the Leavers' Assembly in July.

Year R, 1 & 2 Sports Day!

The children in Reception and Key Stage 1 really enjoyed their sports day event on the 'BIG' field last week. They all did exceptionally well in the heat and really enjoyed participating in all of the events. Thank you, parents and carers, for cheering everyone on so well - it was lovely that you could join us for this event.

Well done to Colliers (Red) House for winning the Reception and KS1 sports day!

Year 3/4 Sports Day!

A glorious afternoon for the re-scheduled sports day! So hot that we had to halve the number of races in order to protect everyone from the blazing sunshine...

It was lovely to see so many parents/carers supporting the children at the sports event.

Well done to TRENDLEWOOD (Green) House for winning the Year 3/4 sports day.

Year 5/6 Sports Day!

The children in Years 5 & 6 took part in their Sports Day during sports week. The afternoon began with the traditional Fun Run for Year 6 - well done everyone for pushing through and reaching the finish line. Congratulations to Harry for winning the run!

I hope you enjoy the following photos that showcase many of the races. It was lovely to welcome an audience of parents and grandparents this year after a two year absence. The children did so well!

Well done to Glassblowers (BLUE) House for scoring the most points during the afternoon.
