I hope you find the information contained here useful, whether you are a prospective parent deciding whether to send your child here, or an existing parent who cannot find the latest newsletter in your child’s bag! The web-site is updated frequently with latest news and information, calendar dates, copies of all letters sent home as well as a gallery of children’s displays, work and events. On the children’s class pages you can read reports from visits, see examples of super learning and explore links to recommended web-sites to support learning at home. Please visit regularly or set Golden Valley as your home page!
Golden Valley is a large primary school in Nailsea with around 420 pupils arranged in 14 classes. There is a purposeful, calm atmosphere in the school where children are expected to work hard, learn new skills and knowledge and behave well. The children are supported by a hard-working and experienced team of teachers, teaching and learning assistants and other members of the support team. The whole staff share a responsibility of raising standards and keeping self-esteem high, but also in making life at school exciting, fun and enjoyable - we all know that happy children make the best learners!
Our most recent Ofsted Inspection in March 2014 substantiated the school’s self-evaluation that Golden Valley is an OUTSTANDING school. We received the top outstanding judgement in all aspects: pupil achievement, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety and leadership and management. This reflects the hard work of all pupils and staff and the very high standards that we achieve in all areas of school life.
Although the web-site is comprehensive and contains lots of information, there is nothing better than seeing the school working from first-hand. If you are considering sending your child here, I urge you to make an appointment to visit during school hours to sample the positive, hard-working atmosphere and to see for yourself why Golden Valley is a really good choice for your child.
If you have enjoyed visiting the school’s web-site, please include a comment in the ‘Guestbook’ section for us to see.
It is a real privilege to be Headteacher of this great school and I am proud of all the people who contribute in some way to providing high quality education and opportunities for our children. We hope that the children leave Golden Valley having achieved their very best and look back with really positive and happy memories of the people, events and their time at the school. That’s what we aim for!
